SGK, formerly marketed as Schawk, Inc., a global brand development, activation and deployment company that drives brand performance, has announced that Brandimage and Anthem, each a part of SGK’s brand development group, have earned two packaging design awards recognizing creativity and excellence. Brandimage received a gold Pentaward for its design of packaging for Bama, a new, über-premium, mineral water for the China market, and Anthem won a bronze Pentaward for its design of packaging for PLUS private brands’ PLUS Washing Powder and PLUS Liquid Detergent for the Netherlands based supermarket PLUS. The Pentawards prize ceremony was held in Barcelona, Spain on September 21, 2013. Lor Gold, global chief creative officer at SGK, says, “We are thrilled that both Brandimage and Anthem’s design work has been recognized as among the best in the world. It’s an especially valued honor for Brandimage to have been recognized for elevating the creative bar high enough to earn a coveted gold Pentaward. This honor is made all the more meaningful in that we get to work with clients who continually expect us to raise the bar.” Adds Gold, “Packaging must be so much more than functional. It is the pure expression of a brand. To truly be considered creative, design must connect the brand both emotionally and rationally to be desired by the consumer. The Pentawards Brandimage and Anthem have received affirm this. Both, Brandimage and Anthem create brand desirability from the package design out, all the way to the next level in order to help drive brand performance. “Brandimage brings brands ‘to the shelf’ through breakthrough ideas and packaging design—seducing consumers directly at the point of decision. Anthem’s ‘shelf out’ philosophy puts the brand’s package at center stage to elevate and amplify desirability across all touchpoints—anywhere people come in contact with what the brand stands for.” The 2013 Pentawards Worldwide Packaging Design Competition is the first online global awards competition devoted exclusively to packaging design. This seventh edition of the Pentawards received over 1400 entries from 5 continents and 49 countries. An international jury (Europe, the Americas, Asia-Pacific) composed of eminent marketing specialists and designers under the chairmanship of Gérard Caron selected the winners in accordance with the creative quality of the work submitted. In the Beverage – Water category, Brandimage was awarded: GOLD: Bama Mineral Water Packaging Design: Brandimage (Hong Kong) Brand Owner: Uni-President China Holdings Ltd In the Other Markets – Distributors/Retailers own brands category, Anthem was awarded: BRONZE: PLUS Private Label Liquid Detergent and PLUS Washing Powder Packaging Design: Anthem (The Netherlands) Brand Owner: PLUS
